Have Tottenham left it too late to pip Leicester to the title?

Tottenham Hotspur have been in outstanding form in recent weeks, following up an impressive 3-0 win against Manchester United with a 4-0 win away to Stoke City. The Londoners have also narrowed the deficit to Premier League leaders Leicester City in the process, but have they left it too late?

Spurs are currently second in the Premier League table with 68 points from 34 games, and they’re coming off the back of four wins and two draws from their last six games. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have lost only three games since the opening day of the season, and do have a favourable run-in when looking at their remaining league fixtures. Leicester City could extend their lead on the weekend However, they are still five points adrift with four games to go, and Leicester City play first out of the two sides in the next round of fixtures. Victory for the Foxes would see them open up an eight-point lead with Spurs having only 12 points to play so it’s a big ask for the Londoners to win their remaining games and hope Leicester drop enough points.

A perfect finish to the season would see Tottenham end the campaign on 80 points from the 38 games. Leicester are only seven points from matching that tally, and could take a big step closer to glory with a win at home to a struggling Swansea City side on Sunday. Victory over the Welsh outfit as expected will see Leicester eight points clear before Tottenham play West Bromwich Albion. Tottenham need perfect finish to win the title The pressure is firmly on Tottenham, but to their credit they aren’t faltering just yet.

They have already narrowed the deficit to Leicester but will likely need a perfect finish to stand a chance of winning the Premier League. Spurs won six on the bounce in the division between January and February, so they certainly have it in them to repeat the feat.

Unfortunately for the Londoners that may not be enough as Leicester City took 10 points from the four teams they have to face in their run-in. They have actually picked up more points than Tottenham since February, and willy fancy their opponents to slip-up in the coming weeks. This season’s title race is sure to be an enthralling affair, and Tottenham Hotspur are 9/5 to win the Premier League title, but have they left it too late?
